Yana Osman & Anton Khamchishkin | Symbiotic Drift
Yana Osman & Anton Khamchishkin are artists based in Moscow. Their collaborative practice works with voice as material, treating it as a substance that shifts between language, image, and sound. Moving across film, installation, and performance, they explore how voice alters narrative, generates parallel realities, and resists fixed meaning.
Khamchishkin approaches sound as visual matter, shaped by his background as a cinematographer, while Osman draws on her experience of displacement and layered identities to develop a method of “parallel narrative,” where intersecting threads reshape stories and reveal what official accounts omit. Together, they situate voice within histories of censorship and coded expression, reclaiming its potential as a political and aesthetic force.
Their works have been presented internationally, including at the Centre Pompidou, Cité Internationale des Arts, CNC – Centre National du Cinéma et de l’image animée, VAC Foundation (GES-2), Archstoyanie, and DOK Leipzig.
