Richard Prigg | Symbiotic Drift
Richard Prigg is a stained glass artist based in Pennsylvania. A graduate of the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, he began his career at Beyer Stained Glass and later served as General Manager of Willet Hauser Architectural Glass, the largest stained glass studio in the United States. There, he oversaw multimillion-dollar commissions and restorations, including major projects for St. Martin’s Episcopal Church in Houston and the historic facade window at PAFA.
In 2011, Prigg co-founded Sycamore Studios, where he continues to restore, repair, and create new work while developing a personal practice that emphasizes the expressive potential of lead and solder alongside mouthblown antique glass. Moving away from narrative traditions in stained glass, his works focus on materiality, light, and abstraction—ranging from calligraphic lead constructions to experimental pieces integrating concrete, such as his ongoing Tower series.
Prigg has received two AGNX Awards for Excellence in the Art of Stained Glass from the American Glass Guild, where he also served on the board of directors. His recent exhibitions include the 2025 AGNX Show at Mesa Contemporary Art Museum (Arizona), Vibrance at Aston Mills Art Center (Pennsylvania), and the juried exhibition 100 Skulls (2023). His work is held in private collections and at the Center for Emerging Visual Artists in Philadelphia.
