Julia Marinchenko | Symbiotic Drift
Julia Marinchenko is an artist based in Moscow whose practice emerges from deeply personal experience. Working with tactile and organic materials such as fabric, rope, and skin-like textures, she creates works that address silence, vulnerability, and resilience. Her art is an act of resistance and a space for reclaiming voice and agency.
Through a minimalist yet visceral approach, she explores how trauma inscribes itself on the body and memory. The sensuality in her work is deliberate: it both honors the desiring female body and asserts boundaries of autonomy and consent. This tension between intimacy and protection creates spaces where vulnerability is acknowledged rather than concealed.
Her projects have been shown in exhibitions across Russia and internationally, including The Outsider Within (online, 2025), White Nights Film Festival (Saint Petersburg, 2024), and Sound of Colors (Moscow, 2023). She has taken part in workshops at the Moscow School of Contemporary Art (2025) and OP-POP-ART Academy (2024), and is currently studying at the School of Contemporary Art Free Workshops at the Moscow Museum of Modern Art (MMOMA).
