Ekaterina Trusova | Symbiotic Drift
Ekaterina Trusova is an artist based in Saint Petersburg. Her practice centers on the figure of the chimera as a way to think about mutability, fragmentation, and hidden connections. Drawing on her background in painting restoration, she approaches material with an acute awareness of its vulnerability and the ethics of intervention. This sensibility informs her works in painting, sculpture, and installation, where hybrid forms expose the instability of what appears fixed and reveal subtle dissonances within the natural and social order.
For Trusova, chimeras are not fantastical inventions but near-natural presences, uncanny in their closeness to reality. By uncovering these shifting forms, her practice highlights the fluidity of perception and proposes an ethics of attention and tolerance.
She studied painting restoration at the Nicholas Roerich Art College and art theory and history at the Ilya Repin Academy of Arts. Recent exhibitions include Woman as Object and Subject in Art (Gogol Library, Moscow, 2023), Homo Ludens (Museum of Nonconformist Art, Pushkinskaya-10, 2023–24), and Vanity (Ustoi Space, Saint Petersburg, 2024).
