Anna Sinitsyna | Symbiotic Drift
Anna Sinitsyna is a Russian-born artist based in Spain. Her practice explores the complexities of identity and the passage of time, shaped by a background in linguistics and lived experience across multiple cultures. Time spent in a close-knit Quindío community in Colombia, alongside years within international expat circles in Spain, gave her a dual perspective: seeing communities both from within and from the outside.
Her paintings investigate how belonging, place, and language inscribe themselves into personal identity. Rather than offering fixed portraits, they capture identity as a process — mutable, layered, and continuously shifting. Through this approach, Sinitsyna explores how selfhood evolves across contexts, translating lived memory into visual form.
